Edgecombe Bridge Reopened After being closed for some weeks undergoing repairs the Edgecumbe bridge across the Rangitaiki River was opened again to traffic last week. Work has been' carried out by the L Whakatane County staff who have? had to make it safe to carry only a certain weight of traffic. it is .expected that' severer restrictions are to be placed on the ur > of the bridge by different classes ol traffic. No Maoris—No Hakas The All Black team in South Africa is not performing hakas before any of its games. According to a report in a South African newspaper, the manager, Mr J. H. Parker, was asked when the All Blacks would give their famous war cry. Mr Parker replied: “We are not going to give it at all on this tour. The war cry is a creation of the Maoris, and as we have no Maoris with us we are not giving the 'war cry.”
