What machine has benefited the greatest number of people in the whole human race? Certainly the sewing machine.
It was invented by Elias Howe in 1845, and it has been making clothing cheaper for 100 years. No Government ever did as much good to the human race as Elias Howe did, and happily he was well rewarded. The history of the sewing machine is a story of salesmanship.
