Wallabies Enjoy Stay At Whakatane

Appreciation of the fine accommodation and entertainment arrangements during the team’s at Whakatane was expressed by thef manager of the touring rugby team, Mr R. Walden, before leaving for Gisborne at 8.30 this morning. Mr Walden said he had been well satisfied with the accommodation while the team had been overwhelmed by the hospitality of the Whakatane people. He and the players would leave the town with very pleasant memories. Yesterday several players were taken on a fishing trip to Whale Island, catching enough fish for the team’s breakfast today. Other members were the guests of the Whakatane Golf Club. The Australians are to play Poverty Bay-East Coast at Gisborne on Wednesday.
