Only Rugby On Saturday With the exception of the representative rugby at Whakatane on Saturday all other sport at Whakatane and Rangitaiki has been cancelled. Many shops and other businesses normally open on that day will be closed or will close for a period in the afternoon .to allow the staffs time off to see the Australians playing. Scottish Dance A large crowd attended the Scottish dance held at Whakatane on Saturday to raise funds for the St. Andrews Pipe Band. Music waSiffr played by Harrison’s Orchestra and/ supper music by Miss D. Stewart and Mr G. Patterson, who -was also M.C. The monte carlo was won by Miss V. Brown, Whakatane. and Miss- Friis, Mount Maunganui. A sword dance and a highland fling , were presented by Misses Janice Dixon, Helen Mclntosh and Rae Coutts.
