Bacterial Treatment Of Lucerne Seed
Over 2,500 farmers of New Zealand have in the past season used bacteria to help them grow lucerne in soils deficient in nitrogen. The Plant Diseases Division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research has just announced that for the season 1948/49 culture for nearly 30,0001 b (299,0141 b) of seed has been supplied to 2,550 farmers. Nearl3 r a third of the cul_ ture went to 797 farmers of South Canterbury, and Canterbury came next with culture for 54,2701 b of so ' 433 farmers.
