With one house in the new block of State houses in Tuhoe Avenue now being erected at Whakatane already occupied another has now become available for' occupation and a third is expected to be completed today, the contractors informed, the Beacon yesterday. Interior work is proceeding on three others and these are expected to be ready within about a fortnight. Of the three now completed the one occupied is a four bedroomed dwelling and the others have three bedrooms. Others almost finished comprise one four bedroomed, one three bedroomed and the remaining one of two bedrooms. In these last three the sub contractors, painters, plumbers and electricians, are well forward on their work.

Carpenters are proceeding on the other six in the block of 12 and have completed the exterior work on most of them. They have reached a stage now that if it rains they can continue with the interior work uninterrupted. These remaining houses comprise three each of two bedrooms and three bedrooms.

The contractors hope to have all the houses in this block completed well before Christmas.
