TAIRAWHITI PRINCE OF WALES TEAM CHOSEN
Six Bay of Plenty players have been chosen by the selectors, Messrs T. Anderson (Bay of Plenty), G. Nepia (East Coast) and T. Carroll (Hawkes Bay), to represent Tairawhiti in a rugby match for the Prince of Wales Cup against Taitoikerau at Whangarei on August 13. There is only one Whakatane player in the team, H. Ranapia, and L. Raureti is the only Rangitaiki representative. Opotiki is well represented with M. Delamere, J. Gold-’ smith and L. McLaughlin. The other Bay of Plenty player is S. Morrison, Rotorua. BRACKEN CUP STARTING TOMORROW Senior rugby competition games for the Bracken Cup will start tomorrow with matches at Taneatua and Whakatane Field. An added attraction at Whakatane will be the
new seating accommodation, which has just been completed and will be used for the first time tomorrow. WAIRAKA TO PLAY TE TEKO Wairaka has drawn to play Te Teko in the first game of the elimination round for the Pile Cup. The game is to take place at Whakatane on August 13. Galatea Club will play St. Michaels at Rotorua on the same date. McINTOSH SHIELD DRAW The draw has been released for the Mclntosh Shield for junior competition and in it Whakatane United has drawn to play Opotiki High School at Opotiki on September 3. Edgecumbe is to play Rotorua Old Boys at Rotorua oh August 13.
RUGBY TEAM MANAGERS Messrs W. S. Henderson, Whakatane, and L. Clarke, Rotorua, have been appointed managers of the senior Bay of Plenty rugby team to play Waikato at Hamilton tomorrow. The managers of the junior team are Messrs T. Lawrence, Rotorua, and'C. J. Reid, Opotiki. Messrs J. Guinness, Tauranga, and W. T. Burrett, Opotiki, have been appointed managers of the Bay of Plenty rugby team to play Australia at Whakatane this month.
