While on a short holiday at Auckland Captain George Carey, harbourmaster*'at Whakatane, collapsed and died suddenly on Tuesday from a heart attack. Captain Carey'had been suffering these attacks for some time and had gone to Auckland to seek medical advice. Captain Carey has been harbourmaster at Whakatane for 13 years.
