Nobody was more surprised than Mrs Kathryn Leuter, of Cleveland, when her acute indigestion turned out to be a baby—her first. Mrs Leuter, 32 year old wife of a laboratory technician, complained of a pain she thought was caused by eating too much iced watermelon.

Her doctor thought it heartburn or a tumor until Mrs Leuter began delivering the 61b 4oz baby while he was examining her. Mrs Leuter had been worried about her increased weight for months and had been dieting. The doctor himself had been treating her to get off some of her weight.
