WHAKATANE CHALLENGED BY OPOTIKI The first representative basketball games at .Whakatane this season will be played at Whakatane on Saturday when Opotiki plays Whakatane in a challenge for the Miriata Shield. This main game takes place on the hard court at 2.30 p.m. and will be refereed by Mrs W. J. Dippy. The shield was first won by Whakatane last year. Another representative match will be played between Opotiki B and Whakatane B on the hard court at 1.45 p.m. and Miss J. Sisam is referee. Competition games are to be played as usual on Saturday but will commence at 1 p.m. to finish in time for the representative' matches. Competition draw: —-
The Mcßaes v Ruatoki on court 1, referee Miss Tautini; Redwings v Paroa A on court 2, Mrs J. Mole; Olympics v Poroporo, on court 3, Miss Arbon; Paroa Minors v Matatua' on court 4, Mrs Lynds; Taneatua v The Stewarts on court 5, Miss Seebeck.
