MANY VISITORS ENTER WINTER TOURNEY The Whakatane Golf Club held the third annual winter tournament last week-end. The weather was ideal and the course in splendid order. There was a record entry of 82 competitors including visitors from Auckland, Hamilton, Te Aroha, Tauranga, Te Puke, Te Teko, Te Awamutu and Feilding. At the conclusion of play, the President of the Club, Mr B. S. Barry, in a short speech welcomed the visitors and complimented the tournament officials and the greenkeeper on their work. Mrs Barry then presented the trophies to the winners of the various events. s Winners:—

39, second division, W. G. Howat 38. 18 Hole Stableford Handicap (Sunday): First division, F. Gover 38, second division, L. W. Luxton 36. 18 Hole Bogey Handicap (Sim- , day): First division, R. Hayes 4 up, second division, G. C. Watson all square. Next Sunday the annual match between the Tauranga and Whakatane Clubs will be played at Whakatane.
