Festive Atmosphere At Hunt Club Ball

Showers of confetti, red and white festooned streamers mingling with the hundreds of whirling colourful dresses gave the annual ball of the Rangitaiki Ward Opotiki Hunt Club a gay and festive atmosphere. The ball was held on Monday night in the Winter Show Building which had been attractively decorated by members of the Hunt Club. Nikau palms, bamboo and cabbage trees lined the wall and overhead a canopy of red and “white streamers' covered the roof. The cubicles were made of manuka brush fences depicting jumps and 'a brush fence surrounded the orchestra stage. The supper room was also gay with decorations and the delicious spread was greatly appreciated by the hungry dancers. About 500 people attended the ball some coming from as far as Auckland, Tauranga and Rotorua.
