If you want something really different to serve to your friends on their next visit, you couldn’t do better than try this unu;ual recipe, for the old family stand-by, pears, la- cups sugar 1 cup water green vegetable colouring 3 tablespoons creme de menthe 6 pears

Boil the sugar and water for five minutes. Add colouring to give the desired green and flavour with creme de menthe. Add the pears, peeled, halved and cored, then bring to the boil and cook for about 15 minutes, or until they are tender, transparent and tinted an emerald green. Drain and serve them hot or cold. ( The Americans serve these with lamb or mutton).

BANANA FROSTING

Here is an easy, but tasty cakeicing which only takes a minute to prepare.
