Cooks Could Not Make Poached Eggs
Eggs on the menus of London restaurants for the first time in eight years have caused an unexpected problem. Restaurant staffs do not know how to poach eggs.
There has been a flood of orders from customers, but in the kitchens there was consternation when young girls told the manageresses: “We don’t know how to cook them. We hardly ever see eggs at home.” One chain of restaurants has decided to give young cooks a special instructional course on egg poaching.
