Monthly Meeting Of Thornton W.I.

At the meeting of the Thornton Women’s Institute held this month, Mrs Branch-presided. Arrangements were made for a court in the forthcoming Winter Show. A dressmaking class was discussed and many decided to join. As it was Hospital Day, three members with nursing experience answered questions pertaining to nursing and First Aid.

I Children’s feeders and biscuits ' were among the competitions. These were taken into hospital next day. i Mrs McQueen won a wall competition. The prize' in aid of gen- , eral funds was won by Mrs Tooke. Competition results: — Feeders: Mrs Sheat 1, Mrs D. Branch 2. Biscuits: Mrs D. Branch 1, Mrs Heikle 2. Flowers: Mrs LenI non 1, Mrs D. Branch 2. Best flower: Mrs Robb 1, Mrs Tooke 2. Best vegetable: Mrs Fisher 1, Mrs Branch 2. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Law and Walker.
