Druids Instal New District President: Edgecumbe Ceremony

The quarterly meeting of Edgecumbe Lodge No. 55 held recently in the Central Theatre had special significance to all Druids in No. 24 District who have the interests of the Order at heart, the occasion being the Installation and Investiture of Past Arch Bro C. Zinsli of Edgecumbe Lodge as District President. Arch Druid Bro A. J. Jespersen presided over a large gathering of Edgecumbe and visiting members.

Arch Druid Bro A. H. Beckett of Pride of Te Puke Lodge No. 87, with his Officers and Members, attended officially, whilst other visitors included Past Arch Bro M. Gillard and several members of Whakatane Lodge, also P.D.P., Bro A. H. Gleeson and Sister Gleeson were included in the visitors from Rotorua Lodge No. 80. Bro H. C. Phillips, District President of : No. 24 District, accompanied by Bro R. Chambers, District President of No. 31 District, were in attendance officially and were welcomed with the customary honours due to their exalted rank. After the usual business of the meeting, including the election of officers for the ensuing term, was completed, the District President Elect, Bro Zinsli, was presented to the District President by the Master of Ceremonies, P.D.P. Bro H. M. Carter, for installation and investiture. After the completion of the ceremony, D.P. Bro Zinsli received congratulations from the various Lodge representatives and was given a handsome souvenir booklet to mark the occasion, which was presented by P.D.P. Bro Carter. The District President then addressed the members assembled and expressed his thanks for the honour accorded him. He then presented his predecessor with the regalia and diploma of a Past District President. The Lodge was then closed and members adjourned to the supper room.

Items between toasts were given by Messrs Tysson, Blake and Lopdell, Sister Scott and Bros Mullins, Gleeson, Zinsli and /Phillips. In addition Mr Tysson showed his skill as a magician and his efforts were much appreciated.
