Visitors to the Dominion conference of the Legion of Frontiersmen at Whakatane over the week-end, voted it one of the-best ever—and some of these men have been going to Legion conferences for a long time. Altogether 174 delegates attended, and all with whom the Beacon’s representatives spoke had nothing but praise for this district and its hospitality to them. Squadron leaders met before the main conference on Saturday.' y That evening was devoted to the annual reunion, and Sunday morning the majority of the delegates attended a public Church parade at the Grand Theatre, Rev R. T. Dodds conducting the service and the pipe band leading the. impressive parade.
