Don’t Use Low Gear To Start
When a car is being towed away from rest in order 'to start it, it should be in a high gear. If it is bottom, the momentary load on the transmission may be excessive, and several Whakatane servicemen report many cases of rear axle failure, usually breakage of crown wheels and pinion, owing to the misapprehension of drivers who have failed to work out that gear ratios are reversed when the road wheels are driving the engine.
