Rabbit Destruction Council’s Tour

Shortly the Rabbit Destruction Council is to make a two-day tour of the Pongakawa Rabbit Board’s area, which includes the Whakatane, Galatea and Murupara districts. First day the party will travel from Rotorua to Rerewhaikatu and Rotomahana, doubling back to the Murupara road, down through the Galatea country on the Rotorua side of the river, along the military track by the Board Mills tramline to Te Teko, and from there to the upper Tarawera, thence back to the main Rotorua highway and through Rotoma, Te Ngae and Rotokawa to Rotorua.

The second day they will come up the Maniatutu Road to the old Coach Road, then along Royden Downs Road, inspect Royden Downs, double back and go along the Bush Road and double back along Bush Road to the old Coach Road then up the Pongakawa Valley Road. Then either double back or go straight on to Manawahe then down through Manawahe to Matata, then through the Onepu country and come out on the Rotorua-Whaka-tane Highway about 32 miles from Rotorua.
