ANARU—HORNE

Flowers in bridal tonings decorated St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Te Puke, recentjy, for the wedding of Ngaro, youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr J. Horne, senr., Pukehina, and Major W. Ratine Anaru, fourth son of Mrs and the late Mr Timeka Anaru, Rotorua. Mr Anaru is well known at Whakatane. The service was conducted by Rev W. S. C. Stephens, assisted by Rev Rangiaho. The organist was Miss Norrie.

The bride, who was escorted by her eldest brother, Mr Jock Horne, wore a beautiful gown of off-white embossed satin with a full embroidered shoulder to shoulder peplum and net neckline, ornamented with a mother-of-pearl necklace and matching ear-rings. The full skirt finished with similar bodice peplum, was drawn int® a bow effect bustle thus forming a full and effective train. A coronet of orange blossoms held in place her tulle veil which was worn over her face as she entered the church. She carried a shower bouquet of cream and white lilies, chrysanthemums and nerines.

The chief bridesmaid, a fellow school teacher, Miss Joan Driscoll, who flew from Ashburton for the occasion, wore a fitting frock in pale blue marquissette over satin with blue French net over bodice which fell into a V-shaped peplum.

Nieces of the bride and bridegroom, Misses Lily Anderson and Ata Anaru, were frocked alike in white figured net over cherry pink cloque. All three bridesmaids had three-stringed pearls and matchmg ear-rings.

The little flower girl, Tawhai Richmond, grand-niece of the bride, looked very charming in a fairylike frock of palest pink figured satin and net.

The groom was attended by fel-low-officers of 28th Maori Battalion, Captain Ted Hayward, of Rotorua, as best man, and Captain Ted Pohio, of Hastings, and Lieutenant Meta Francis, of Rotorua, as groomsman.

The ushers were Messrs J. ' W. Horne (brother of the bride) and P. Anaru (brother of the bridegroom). The reception was held at the bride’s parents’ homestead at Pukehina, where Mrs J. Horne, senr, wearing a smart black suit and teal blue blouse and lace collar, was assisted by Mrs T. Anaru, who wore a black suit with pale lemon blouse, received the guests.
