Clay Bird Shooting

V. TIMES RETAINS MATCHITT CUF At the County Rod and Gun Club shoot on Sunday, there was a fair attendance of shooters. Weather was fine, although a cross wind affected shooting which, however, was of a high standard in most events. The Mrs Matchitt Cup was again won by V. Timbs (holder) who thus won the Cup outright.

Timbs shot very well all day and in the C. A. Timbs Memorial Pigeon even tied with A. Wansbone of Te Puke but lost in the shoot-off after an excellent contest. The J. D. Rivett Novice Cup was won by J. Harris after a shoot-off with F. Abbott. Mr R. S. Ricketts, vice-president, presented the trophies to the winners and congratulated them on their performances. Detailed results:—

Eye-Opener, 5 birds (14 entries): W. Davies, A. Wansbone, J. McLeod and A. Mitchell shot the possible and divided the stake. Sweepstake, 10 birds (15 entries): W. Hume, J. Butler, A. Wansbone and J. McLeod shot 9 and divided the stake. Gimcrack, 5 birds (17 entries): W. Hume, J.. Butler and V. Timbs shot the possible and divided the stake.

Mrs Matchitt Cup, 10 birds (14 entries): V. Timbs 10, 1; P. Mayo 9,2. Sweepstake, 10 birds (20 entries): J. Plamus, W. Hume, A. Wansbone

and J. A. Parkinson shot 9 and divided the stake.

C. A. Timbs Memorial Pigeon, 10 birds (19 entries): A. Wansbone and V. Timbs shot the possible and in the shoot-off Wansbone won on the seventh" bird.

Sweepstake, 5 birds (21 entries): W. Hume, A. Wansbone, A. Mitchell, R. Bluett and V. Timbs shot the possible and divided the stake. Points Sweepstake, 5 birds (17 entries): J. Plamus, W. Hume and J. McLeod scored 9 and divided the stake.

J. D. Rivett Novice Cup, 10 birds (7-entries): J. Harris won on the shoot-off from F. Abbott after both had shot 8. Sweepstake, 10 birds (14 entries): J. Plamus, W. Hume, J. McLeod and R. Bluett shot 9 and divided the stake. Box Shoot, 5 birds off 18yds (11 entries): V. Timbs 5. Box Shoot, 5 birds off 22 yds (10 entries): J. Plamus, W. Hume and A. Wansbone shot 5 and divided the stake.
