Barton’s Circus’s Tour Of District
Opening at Matata last Tuesday, Barton’s International Circus completes its tour of this part of the Bay of Plenty at Te Puke tonight. At Whakatane the circus played two evening shows and a matinee to appreciative audiences. Starting with a buck-jumping show, the programme moved brightly through 2£ hours of good, clean fun.
Elimar, billed as Europe’s fore-
most juggler and balancer, and y Maximo, remarkably clever trick " cyclist, took a goodly share of the applause, but possibly the best appreciated items of all were those of the Leotards, with their thrilling acrobatic feats. Dan Crotty and Buddy, with their remarkably well-trained horses, got a great hand for their cowboy stirtits. Needless to say, the small boys in the audience had the usual chances to take part in the programme, and enjoyed the horse-play with the clowns probably more than the rest of the audience.
