Waimana Rugby Club Withdraws From The Whakatane Sub-Union
Permission to withdraw from the union was granted ithe Waimana Club by the Whakatane Rugby SubUnion at an executive meeting at Whakatane. Several reasons were advanced by Waimana for wanting to withdraw and the necessary permission was granted without much discussion. Waimana will join the Opotiki Union. The difficulty of obtaining suitable transport for travelling each weekend, the encouragement to League if Rugby were not played at Waimana and the guarantee of the Opotiki Union to play some matches at Waimana were the main reasons for wishing to withdraw from the Whakatane Union according to a letter received jirom the Waimana Club. The letter also stated that the Opotiki Union was ageeable to Waimana’s transfering, provided the Whakatane Union had no objection. There was little comment over the letter and when the chairman, Mr N. Semmens, put the motion to the meeting that permission be granted there was only one objection.
