Expenditure For Whakatane Hospital

Estimated maintenance receipts to a total of £20,900 for the coming financial year were considered by the Whakatane Hospital Board at a meeting last week. Payments are estimated to total £67,260, including hospital maintenance £61,380. Capital expenditure and other loan monies are £7,700 and this leaves a total of £58,700 tp be raised by levy on local bodies and Government subsidies. Local bodies will actually find about £6,700 and the Government the balance of £52,000. Loan works this year include additions to the nurses’ home, at present under construction which, when completed will cost about £30,000, including furnishing. Other works planned are new domestic staff quarters and additions to the maternity annexe. These have not yet been finally approved by the Department ‘of Health. They are expected to cost about £36,000.
