High Standard At W.I. Concert
On Thursday evening last at the Central Theatre, Edgecumbe, a very high standard of entertainment was presented by the winning competitors in the recent Eisteddfod. In spite of it being held on the Easter late shopping night, the concert attracted a full theatre, thus testifying to the public interest and popularity of talent displayed at the festival. The programme of bright sketches, mimes, trios, comedy, dance duos, part song by choirs, choral speech, elocution, provided a sparkling programme, which would have done credit to any organisation. 1
A pleasing diversion from the Eisteddfod items was a special request number, a duet “The Rosary,” sung by Mrs D. Shaw (Canterbury) and her sister Mrs J. A. Armstrong, and an encore number “Ye Banks and Braes.”
At the conclusion of the concert, as an expression of appreciation to Mrs Armstrong and Mrs Rolfe Withy, each were presented with a “Charles Dickens” box ef chocolates.
