Record Entries In Recent Eisteddfod At Edgecumbe
There were record entries v in all classes at the recent Eisteddfod conducted by the Eastern Bay of Plenty Federation of Women’s Institutes, and the Central Theatre Edgecumbe was packed all day. Judges were Mrs Christian, Tauranga (music), Miss Isaacs, Tauranga (elocution), Mrs Gordon, Ohope (dancing) and Rev J. H. Starnes (speeches). * Otakiri won the silver talent bowl, scoring most points over all sections and most first prizes in the festival. Waimana came second.

Duet or Trio Comedy, Otakiri 1, Matata 2. Own composition, poem test, bird song, Waimana 1, Otakiri 2. Own composition poem, own choice, Otakiri 1, Waimana 2. Mime musical, Whakatane 1, Edgecumbe 2. Prepared speech, Otakiri-Whakatane 1. Dance duo, comedy, Whakatane 1, Otakiri 2. Choral speech, test, Edgecumbe 1, Whakatane 2. Choral speaking, own choice, Waimana 1, Matata 2.
