Americans As R.S.A. Members?
Whether American ex-servicemen -who settled in New Zealand and were not naturalised citizens would be permitted to join the R.S.A. was briefly discussed by Dunedin executive. If the men became naturalised they were entitled to membership, but if they were not naturalised they could not be admitted as members because they were not British subjects as provided for in the rules, it was said. The Inter-Empire affiliations of the R.S.A. and the related problem of whether ex-servicemen or other nations should also be admitted, were examined before it was decided to refer/the idea to Dominion Executive Council for consideration.
