War Service Gratuity Accounts Being Closed
On March ‘3l, 1949, several thou.ated, and asking whether they desire to withdraw the balance at their •credit, or transfer it to an ordinary Tost Office Savings account. These accounts have earned -then 7J per cent interest, free of ;all tax', for the last three years, and it. is safe to say that they are never likely to own a better investment. Many of the accounts have, of course, already been closed and the money drawn for use in a business, -the building •of a house or some ■other worthy object. Some of those ■entitled to a gratuuity (and this includes many home servicemen) have
iiot even claimed their amounts irom Base Records, and this hard * is very anxious to receive their addresses.
