Whakatane ParentTeacher Assn.
Over 30 members of the Whakatane Parent-Teacher Association turned out for the annual meeting on Monday evening. A group of Rotarians gave short talks, and Mr A. R. Knights showed a series of Health Department films dealing with rat control.
Officers elected: President, Mr B, A. Watts; vice-president, Miss L. M. Lawes; parents’ representatives, Mesdames A. D. O’Rourke, L. D. Lovelock, E. Reid, Messrs F. Harawira, J.! B. Slipper and R. Spong. Mrs A. F. Barwell’s resignation from the secretaryship was accepted with reluctance and regret and, as no one else at the meeting would take the job, it was left to the executive to fill the vacancy.
Mr I. B. Hubbard, headmaster of the District High School, expressed warm appreciation of the job the Association was doing, and Mr F. Lysaght, who saw long service on the school committee, added his congratulations also.
