Some breweries have switched their men to other work, including the repairing of blitzed buildings, to avoid paying them off. The Board of Trade, in issuing a l’evised list of production targets, indicated that sales of beer abroad were to be increased by £17.000 a month. Whisky exports will be increased by £150,000 a month, and gin exports to £20,000.
