British People Now Drink Less Beer
Less beer is being drunk in Britain today. It is stated by the Brewery Society that sales have fallen by 200,000 barrels a month since 1947. to a total consumption of 2,400,000 barrels a month. Some breweries have switched their men to other work, including the repairing of blitzed buildings, to avoid paying them off. The Board of Trade, in issuing a l’evised list of production targets, indicated that sales of beer abroad were to be increased by £17.000 a month. Whisky exports will be increased by £150,000 a month, and gin exports to £20,000.
