Labour's Prospects In This District Considered Bright
“From a preliminary survey of reports, the prospects of a Labour candidate’s recovering Bay of Plenty this year appear particularly bright,” says a report on its annual meeting furnished by the Bay of Plenty Labour Representation Committee. Present at the meeting at Edgecumbe on Sunday were delegates from all branches and affiliations in the electorate. Officers elected: President, Mr T. G-. Santon (Taneatua); vice-presi-dent, Mr E. Bestic (Rotorua); sec-retary-treasurer, Mr J. Doherty (N.Z. Workers’ Union, Rotorua); minute secretary, Mr M. Vernon (N.Z. Workers’ Union); trustees, Messrs Doherty and Bestic; executive committee, Messrs D. G. Beattie (Whakatane), R. Carnahan (Rotorua), G. E. King B. Martin (A.5.R.8., Rotorua), L. Newdick (Taneatua), W. Richardson (N.Z. Carpenters, Rotorua), R. Riddell (Whakatane), J. Rowe (Opotiki); delegates to No. 3 area, Messrs Santon and Newdick; auditor, Mr IE. Goodchild (Rotorua).
