Wedding

Stewart—Tooke A wedding of considerable inter-l est to Whakatane and Opotiki resi-\ dents was solemnised in the Knox Presbyterian Church recently, when Joan Margaret, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs N. H. Tooke, of Salonika Street, Whakatane, was married to Peter, second son of Mrs D. and the late Mr E. W. Stewart, of Opotiki. The Rev R. T. Dodds performed the ceremony and the church, which had been tastefully decorated by friends of the bride, was well filled with relatives and well-wish-ers.

The bride, who was given §way by her father, looked particularly charming in a classical frock of ivory crepe, with fitting bodice, long sleeves and simple neckline. The pleated skirt fell away to form a long train. Her veil of embroidered silk net was caught to the head with a halo of feather flowers, and she carried a bouquet of white begonias, roses and maidenhair fern.

Miss Coralie Morris, of Putaruru, attended as bridesmaid and wore a becoming frock of lavender marquisette, the tight-fitting waist of which was reliever with a crossover bodice and short sleeves and very full skirt. She wore mittens and a toning coronet. Her bouquet of pink tones was composed of gladioli and cactus dahlias.

Little Raewyn Kingsley-Smith attended as flower girl and wore a Victorian frock of apricot velvet and flared headdress to tone. She carried a basket of summer .flowers. Mr John Stewart, brother of the bridegroom, efficiently carried out # the duties of best man. A large number of friends attended the reception in the Caledonian Hall, where Mrs Tooke received her guests attired in a smart frock oft black crepe with white accessories and hat to tone. Her shoulder spray was of pink and white roses and begonias. Mrs Stewart wore a dark navy blue ensemble with hat and accessories j;o tone and shoulder spray of bronze' zinnias. Mr and Mrs Stewart left later on a southern tour, the bride travelling in a neat grey frock relieved with blue and white stripes. Accessories were to tone. They will make their future home at Rotorua.
