“My Blue Heaven”
The Bay of Plenty is proud of the blue skies, plentiful sunshine and generous rainfall, which prompted its name. Likewise it is blessed with tne bJue waters of its ocean beaches and crystal clear trout streams. Further, when the westering sun has deserted the fertile plains to fade behind the encircling ranges, a blue haze descends over the forest clad peaks, deepening into a soft purple with the advent of night.
It seems that some of the horsemen who are going to compete in the Waimana Carnival have taken this blue matif to heart. To mention only four, Betty Kelly has a mount with the regal title of “Blue Prince”; another, John Green has a mare that may not be seen for “Blue Smoke,” Grant Mitchell has an allclear at the starting line with “Blue Peter” and Stock Macdonald (watch that man) is going to do a Hiroshima act with his “Blue Atom.”
