Presbyterians Hear Address On Church Appeal
Four members of a deputation appointed by the committee handling the £500,000 Appeal to New Zealand Presbyterians spoke to the Bay of Plenty Presbytery, members of missionary organisations, and Bible Class members last week. Those in the deputation were the Reverends A. C. McLean, Wanganui, Convener of the Presbyterian Church’s Home Ministry Committee, R. G. McDowall, Auckland, Convener of the Overseas Missions Committee, and Messrs J. McGaw, Hamilton, and D. Standage, Dunedin. All speakers stressed that the ap-. peal was more than a merely financial one, it was a forward move by the whole Church first and foremost on a spiritual plane. To fail pn that level and still raise the £500,000 would mean that the Church had mistaken her emphasis. Members of the deputation expressed their confidence that although the plan was a ten-year one, the bulk of the money would be raised or promised within three years.
