DUCK SHOOTING “POSSIES” CAN BE BOOKED BY CLUB
The . County Rod and Gun Club has succeeded in locating a limited number of duck “possies” for the coming shooting season, which opens on May 14. Whilst they do not compare with the standard of shooting available in the favourite lagoons now mostly in the hands of private syndicates, they will offer shooting to those who are unable to secure any duck shooting in this district. They will be made available under the following conditions:— a. The applicant must be a financial member of the Club and strictly observe the requirements of the landowners as regards care of stock, gates etc.
b. The applicant has no prospect of securing a “possy” for himself by other means than this scheme. c. “Possies” will be allocated by ballot drawn a month before the shooting season. A Government official agreed to be present when the ballot is drawn.
d. Each applicant is required to deposit £1 with his application, which should be addressed to the secretary. If he fails to draw a “possy” he can reclaim his £l. There is no rental. e. Six extra names will be drawn in the ballot to fill the places of shooters who, through unforseen circumstances, may be unable to -use “possies” they have drawn. These six names will be allocated to “possies” falling vacant, in the sequence the six names are drawn in the ballot.
f. All “possies” will be numbered- , g.. If a shooter draws a “possy” in tlie ballot but later, having located better shooting or for some other reason wishes to withdraw, he ij not entitled to reclaim his £l. h. Shooters drawing a “possy” are encouraged to keep some reasonable watch over th.eir shooting rights during the period just before the opening and to erect mai-mais in good time. Right* of access will be arranged by the Club. i. • After meeting administrative expenses any surplus monies accruing through this scheme will be earmarked for the development of more duck “possies” along these lines. j. A limited amount of pheasant shooting goes with the duck “possies” for the first two days of the season and boundaries will be defined by the property owners. After these two days other pheasant shooters may apply for shooting through the President of the Gun Club, who will' require a definite date on which shooting is required and sufficient time to notify and arrange an area with the owners
