Wedding
West—Woods A wedding of considerable locall .interest took place in St Georges Anglican Church, Whakatane, whenT Eyva Rowena, second daughter of Mr and Mrs F. C. Woods, Haig Street, Whakatane, was married to Graham Wilton, only son of Mr C. R. and the late Mrs West of Stewart Street, Whakatane. Rev J. C. J. Wilson performed the ceremony, which was attended by a large number of well-wishers, and Mrs Fraser provided the wedding musib. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a becoming gown of heavy French lace over.,, chiffon taffeta. Fashioned bn classical lines the gown was a particularly attractive model, the sweetheart neck-line giving way to an embossed shoulder-effect which was achieved by a frill of stiffened lace edging the net yoke. The sleeves were tight-fitting and pointed over the wrists, while the close-fitting and long-waisted bodice was off-set by a buttoned’ back which terminated in a three-tiered bustle of stiffened lace over a full circular skirt and gracefully pointed train. Her beautifully embroidered veil of tulle, held in position with a coronet of orange blossom fell in soft folds to form a second train. Her bouquet was composed of pink and white begonias, gypsoptula and- maidenhair fern.
Pastel pink' lace, over a deeper toning of taffeta composed the frocks worn by the bridesmaid, Miss Nola Rust, and the flower-girl, Lynn Woods (sister of the bride). Fitting bodices and fully-tiered skirts were offset with narrow matching ribbons. The heightened shoulder effect featured draped fichus caught up with ribbon • posies. Pink asters worn in the hair were matched by beautiful bouquets of charm dahlias, pink begonias and asters. Mr Roy Sioane capably carried oil t . the duties of best man, and Mr Alan Armstrong acted as usher. A large company of friends and relations attended the reception which was held in the Caledonian Hall,, where Mrs Woods greeted her guests in a smart model suit of chartruese, with matching hat and black accessories. Her shoulder spray was of soft cyclamen tonings. Mrs West wore a turquoise blue suit with wine accessories and shoulder spray of toning blooms. , ■ Mr W. E. Armstrong made-an excellent toastmaster and kept the company in high good humour throughout. The following toasts were honoured: ‘The Loyal Toast!, Mr W. E. Armstrong; ‘The Bride and Bridegroom’, Mr C. Kingsley-Smith and the Bridegroom; ‘The Bridesmaid and Flower Girl’, the Bridegroom and Best Man; ‘The Bride’s Parents’ Mr R.
