Horses Have Horse Sense

Indication of the intelligence of dumb animals was demonstrated by the horses used for the filming of the “Michigan Kid.” The Cinecolour film stars Jon Hall, Victor McLaglen, Rita Johnson and Andy Devine. Two of the horses broke out of the corral after the first day’s shooting on location at Kernville, California. The ponies got far enough away to miss a week’s work before

they were rounded up by wranglers. Oddly enough, the two which went absent without leave, were the mounts ridden by Devine, weight 300 pounds; and McLaglen, weight 250 pounds. Who says horses aren’t smart?
