Mozart, Liszt Music In New Film

Mozart’s “Magic Flue” and Liszt’s “The Sigh” are Very prominent, in Daniele Amfitheatrof’s musical score for the film, “Letter From An Unknown, Woman.” The entire score is Viennese in theme and utilises several waltz compositions popular in Vienna in the 1890 period in which the picture is laid but virtually unknown in this country. Amfitheatrof achieves a new musical effect by using a string quartet, occasionally supported by a full orchestar, under all cf Miss Fontaine’s narration, which is vital to the story.
