TWO NOMINATIONS: VACANT BOROUGH COUNCIL SEAT

Two nominations have been received by the town clerk, Mr L. D. Lovelock, for the vacant seat on the Whakatane Borough Council, caused by the death of Mr J. Creeke. They are : Mr Charles Magnus Lennie, and Mr Robert Riddell. Both stood for a seat on the borough council at the last municipal elections but were not successful. As there are two nominations an election will have to be held and it is proposed to hold it on February 23. There will be two polling booths, one at the borough council chambers and the other at the Caledonian Hall, King Street.
