Bay Of Plenty Farm Schools

A tentative itinerary for the 1949 Bay of Plenty Farm Schools has been drawn up, according to advice received from the organising secretary of Federated Farmers of New Zealand, Bay of Plenty Province in Tauranga, Mr E. J. Vosper. A series of field crop competitions to be held in connection with the farm schools are being arranged, and will be judged under the following: Pastures improvement, hay and silage, and swedes. Pastures are to be judged this autumn and the degree of improvement noted. The ‘hay. and silage is to be judged on quality, building, freedom from waste, and evenness and site of stack or pit. Swedes are to be judged on yield, evenness of crop, freedom from disease and weeds.
