New Whakatane Club Formed
Following the sports practice at the Domain, Whakatane, last night - a meeting was held to!re-form the Whakatane Amateur Athletic Club. About a dozen attended to revive the club, the first move being to register it with the Waikato Centre. Officers elected were:— Patron, Mr W. Sullivan. M.P; president, Mr D. Morpeth; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs R. Whittle, S. Carter, D. C. Stevens; secretary and treasurer, to be elected; committeee, Messrs R. Dawson, W. Ramsay, White, R. T. Dodds, B. Johnson, Misses B. Powley and M. Eivers; club captain, Mr M. Clayton; vicecaptain, Mr G. Powley; handicaoper, Mr B. Johnson;, announcer, Mr A. D. Mortensen. ■ RESULTS OF PRACTICE Senior: Shot put, G. Powley (29ft sins) 1; R. Morpeth (28ft sins) 2. Long jump: Powley (17ft 3ins) 1; 1 W. Ramsay (16ft lOins) 2. Hop, step and jump: Ramsay (38ft llins) 1; B. Clarke (36ft lin) 2. 100yds: R. Seebeck 1, Powley 2. 220yds: D. Powley 1, Ramsay 2. 440yds: Ramsay 1, G. Powley 2, D. Powley 3. Junior: Long jump: M. Reid (12ft 9ins) 1; N. Reid (12ft Bins) 2. 75yds:' B. Seebeck 1, D.
