Youth Leaders In Training At Marton
Sixty young men and women, from all parts of New Zealand are assembled at Marton for a course of special training to fit them as youth leaders in their district. The course, the first of its kind to be held in New Zealand., is divided into two sessions.
The first, from January; 11 to is being held at Nga Tawa College, Marton; the second, from May 5.0 to 19, will be at a venue yet to be decided, but probably in the South Island. The idea behind the course is to give voluntary leaders expedience to carry out youth work in their own towns and districts. It has been organised by the Youth Committee of the National Council of Churches and the Physical Welfare and Recreation Branch of the Departmnet of Internal Affairs.
Before being accepted, the trainees had to guarantee that at the end of the course they wohld pht the knowledge they gain at the service of" their church, club, or other organisation.
