Speaker Introduced By Telephone
Unreported sidelight on Mr S. G. Holland’s post-sessional address in Christchurch last month, was that the Leader of the Opposition was introduced to his southern audience by Mr K. J. Holyoake, M.P. deputyleader of the Opposition. And, strange to say, Mr Holyoake was not in Christchurch! Fact of the matter was that Mr Holyoake had been asked to introduce Mr Holland at the Christchurch meeting, but was unable to attend, so arrangements were made for the member for Pahiatua to address the meeting by telephone. Mr Holyoake spoke for about 10 minutes, introduced Mr Holland and paid tribute to his leadership of the National Party. Reception was perfect, Mr Holyoake has since been informed, and the trouble taken in making the arrangements well -worthwhile'.’ l ' ■ -
