CODE OF ETHICS FOR RENO
Local ministers today adopted a code of ethics including a promise not to chase taxi cabs in search of matrimonial fees. Reno’s revenue from marriages amounts to about 250,000 dollars a year, and is near-J ly as lucrative for the city as is the! divorce business. I The ministers’ code says: “Nol minister should commercialise the! performance of weddings by makj ing deals with taxi-drivers, court-1 house employees, or any other in-l dividuals. All marriages should tSa performed in an ethical w;ay.” ' The code also frowns on the prac-l tice common in Reno, of marryina couples wherever they happen t<| be when they decide on marriagel It is not deemed proper for anj minister to perform a - marriagJ ceremony in an hotel or commercial chapel. I It adds that a minister shouM never lower his ideals to appear J “good fellow” or “one of the boys.l
