Brownie Revels At Taneatua
A very delightful gathering believed to be the -first of its kind in this district was held at Mrs G-. Santon’s home at Taneatua when Brownie packs from Edgecumbe, Whakatane, Waimana and Taneatua met on Saturday to join in Brownie revels. The Whakatane pack with Brown Owl D. Boon and Pack Leader D. Shaw demonstrated pack games, and the Taneatua pack under Brown Owl R. Ricketts and Tawn Owl A. Prince, very capably gave demonstrations of semaphore work, bandaging and knot tying. The Waimana pack, which has very recently been formed, had Brown Owl P. King in charge, but the Edgecumbe Brown Owl L. Jamieson was not able to be preesnt. The. Brownies all joined in team games and a leaf competition (the largest number of different leaves) was won by the Whakatane pack. The children were' served with jelly and ice cream, sandwiches and soft drinks and the adults present with afternoon tea by, the women of the committee to whom thanks are due. Sweets were distributed individually to each sex and then a nut scramble was entered into most enthusiastically. The afternoon concluded with the singing of the Brownie Taps.
