Waimana-Nukuhou Institute Meeting

Mrs Looney presided over a large attendance last week at the Wai-mana-Nukuhou Institute meeting. Mrs Potter gave a good report on the Eisteddfod meeting held in Whakatane recently. Christmas Carols , were sung by the members of the Glee Club, and a most beautiful tableau, consisting of four little girls as Angels, three boys as wise men and three as shepherds, and Mary. The mangee and stage were most effectively arranged with hay etc. A vocal duet-, “Sleep Babe Sleep,” was nicely rendered by Mrs Potter and Miss Currie, and Miss Currie sang a solo most delightfully. Mrs Mitchell, of Auckland, kindly acted as judge for the competitions of the day; which resulted: Best single flower: Mrs H. Bell 1, Mrs A. Macdonald 2, Mrs J. Boynton 3.

Best multiple flower: Miss J. Stevens 1, Mrs J.‘ Boynton 2, Mrs H. Bell 3.

Best vegetable: Mrs Lex McDonald 1, Mrs Hewitt 2, Mrs F. Bell 3. Soft toy: Mrs F. Bell 1, Mrs A. Bethelheim 2, Mrs Whiteman 3. Six gooseberries: Mrs Stevenson 1, Mrs Hewitt 2, Mrs Stansbury 3. One new Miss June Stevens, was welcomed. /

At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs Looney extended thanks to the Glee Club members, hostesses for their help towards the meeting.
