GOOD STANDARD OF ANIMALS AT OTAKIRI SCHOOL
The Otakiri Calf Club Field Day was held on Thursday. The weather remained fine for the judging and the day was very successful. There was a good attendance of parents and friends. The number of calves entered totalled 42 and there were numerous pets on show also. The general all round standard was good and the calves, showed that the children had paid mucfl care and attention ot their rearing. The judges were Mr A. McLean Jun. and Mr J. Murray, dairy -type, Mr H. Bowditch, Leading; Mr J. Bryant, Child’s Effort (Rearing) and Mrs L. Winters,. pets. Results:— Best Dairy Type Junior light breed: Vernal Peck 1, Jim Johnson 2, Percy Cristall 3. Senior light breed: Joyce Sullivan 1, Peter .Goodfellow 2, Colin Hammond 3. 'Junior heavy breed: Betty Moir 1, Rosemary Hammond 2, Graham Thomas 3.. Senior heavy breed: Aldyth Hill 1, Rita Smith 2, Connie Moir 3. Child’s Effort Junior light breed, Section A: Tom Sullivan 1, Barbara Hodgson 2, Keith Smith 3; Section B: Jim Johnson 1, Trevor Armstrong 2, Clare Wallen 3. Senior light breed, Section A: Colin Hammond 1, Roger Peck 2, Noeline Andresen 3. Section B: Colin Dodunski 1, Louise Goodfellow 2, Ron Wallen 3. Junior heavy breed: Betty Moir 1, Rosemary Hammond 2.
