Hollywood Royalty Not Dressed Right
George Sanders complained recently that he wasn’t being dressed properly for his movie roles. He discovered that 20th Century Fox had used painted ball bearings for the studs for his dress suit instead of real pearls. This was his role of Lord Darlington in “The Fan.’ “As a Lord, I think I am entitled to two or three ten cent store pearls, at least,” he said. “Ball bearings indeed!” Sanders said he had found other evidences of retrenchment in Hollywood. Cecil B. De Mille has informed him that he will not be wearing a crown when he plays the king of the Philistines.
“I only play kings and lords, these days,” remarked Sanders, “but the exchequers of my domains are always in a sad state.”
