Christmas Holidays: Two Long Week-Ends
During the coming Christmas and New Year holidays Whakatane residents are going to experience two long week-ends. On Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, there will be late shopping, then the shops will be closing to reopen again the following Wednesday. Over the New Year arrangements are the same. The shops will close following the late hours on New Year’s Eve and will not reopen until Wednesday, January 5. These arrangements were decided on by the Whakatane Retailers’ Association on Monday night. . . The Beacon will be published on Christmas Eve and not again until January 5.'
