WOMEN CHALLENGE MEN TO CASH RAISING CONTEST
At a meeting of the Thornton Hall Committee on Friday evening last it was decided to proceed with a campaign to raise funds for the purpose of lining the hall. A challenge was issued by the women to raise more money by June 1. 1949, than the men. Mrs Arbuckle was appointed organiser for the women and Mr Adams was given a similar position for the men. An interesting competition should follow. To open the campaign an “Eves” dance, sponsored by the women, will be held at an early date, and will be followed by a “Bucks” dance. These are forerunners of s series of events which will be held throughout the summer and autumn.
